Sulla necessità di osservare le aree abbandonate quali riserve di naturalità

La cultura postmoderna descrive città e territori come “frammentati”, “palinsesti” di forme del passato e del presente giustapposte l’una all’altra, un collage di usi correnti, molti dei quali anche effimeri e che sembrano demotivarne il controllo se non per piccoli frammenti. Fra questi i luoghi dell’abbandono protagonisti di processi di naturalizzazione che il presente articolo tenta di rileggere e darne senso entro una cornice ambientale ed ecologica.

Postmodern culture describes cities and territories as “fragmented”, “palimpsests” of past and present forms juxtaposed to each other, a collage of current uses, many of which are also ephemeral and which seem to demotivate their control if not for small fragments. Among these are the places of abandonment that are the protagonists of naturalization processes that this article attempts to reread and make sense of within an environmental and ecological framework.

Nicola Vazzoler, architetto e Dottore di Ricerca in Politiche territoriali e progetto locale (con la tesi Intensità urbana, un rapporto ragionato a partire dal caso di Roma), è stato assegnista di ricerca presso il Dipartimento di Architettura di Roma Tre e Vicesindaco della città di Aquileia (UD). Ora è libero professionista e istruttore tecnico presso l’ufficio urbanistica del Comune di Monfalcone (GO). Impegnato nella didattica (presso le Università degli Studi di Trieste, Università IUAV di Venezia e RomaTre), nella ricerca (fra gli altri il PRIN Territori post-metropolitani) e nell’attività professionale (Piano di Assetto dell’Area archeologica monumentale del Colosseo per RomaTre), è co-fondatore di GU | Generazione Urbana (con il quale ha seguito il Monitoraggio delle forme periferiche contemporanee a Roma per DGAAP MiBACT) e ha collaborato con i giornali on-line di settore UrbanisticaTre, Planum e PPAN).

Nicola Vazzoler, architect and PhD in Territorial Policies and Local Project (with the thesis Urban Intensity, a reasoned relationship starting from the case of Rome), he was research fellow at the Department of Architecture of Roma Tre and Deputy Mayor of the city of Aquileia (UD). Now he is a freelancer and technical instructor at the town planning office of the Municipality of Monfalcone (GO). Engaged in teaching (at the University of Trieste, IUAV University of Venice and RomaTre), in research (among others the PRIN Post-metropolitan Territories) and in professional activity (Plan of the Archaeological Monumental Area of the Colosseum for RomaTre), is co-founder of GU | Generazione Urbana (with whom he followed the Monitoring of contemporary peripheral forms in Rome for DGAAP MiBACT) and collaborated with the online journals UrbanisticaTre, Planum and PPAN).
